Art in Bloom 2011 Page 1

Art in Bloom is an exhibit that is a cooperation between the State University College at Oneonta and the Oneonta Garden Club. Rita Wellman, garden club member, organized the garden club participation in 2011. The exhibit took place July 22 and 23, 2011, in Oneonta on the SUCO campus in the Martin-Mullen Gallery.

The show was called Voices. It featured works of art from the ARC throughout New York State.

Garden club members chose one piece of art from the gallery's current art exhibition and interpreted the piece of art in a flower arrangement. In the arrangement above, Fran Bliven interpreted a delightful farm scene called "Til the Cows Come Home" by Peter Klimck. Fran's arrangement was chosen by all of the people attending as their favorite. It received the People's Choice Award. At the right is Fran's arrangement with the original piece of art. Fran included in her arrangement a milk bottle with the name Bliven on it, one that was in her family.

This arrangement was by Sue Guinan. It captured in flowers the charming painting by Heidi Schroder called "Squirrel".
