Downtown Planting 2009
The Photos on this page show members of the Oneonta Garden Club planting the tubs in downtown Oneonta on Main Street. The photo (upper left) is of Marilyn Ball, the Civic Beautification Chairman. Marilyn arranged for the purchase of the flowers and the delivery downtown. The club, using its own funds and a generous donation from FOF, bought the flowers from the Mount Vlsion Garden Center. The club planted petunias on the sunny side of Main Street, and begonias in shadier areas. The club used spikes in the center of the tubs to give height. The club also plants the little pocket park, Curtis Park at the entrance to the city from I-88, and Fox Hospital Nursing Home.
Many of the club's members live in the city and are happy to see the city look its best. The City of Oneonta helped the club with refreshing the soil. The city also purchases the hanging baskets and keeps all the plants watered.
Doesn't it look great!

Here are the planters in July.
