Oneonta Garden Club Spring Luncheon 2008
The officers of the Oneonta Garden Club were installed at the spring luncheon at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, New York on May 12.

Board members (left to right) are Fran Bliven, President; Dorothy Bloom, First Vice President; Phyllis Hunter, Second Vice President; Elaine Nahman, Treasurer; Sue Guinan, Recording Secretary; Ann Wallace, Corresponding Secretary and Anita Sears, retiring President and the 2008 Advisor.

Elna George (left) installed two of the officers, Elaine Nahman and Ann Wallace. Elna presented the officers with seeds and gardening gifts.
Dorothy Bloom and Phyllis Hunter share seeds as first and second vice presidents.
Mary Leonard (left) is the owner of Carefree Gardens, a nursery about 1 mile from Cooperstown. She presented a wonderful program to 65 Oneonta Garden Club members in which she took containers and filled them with large arrangements according to whether the container was to be used in the sun, shade or partial shade.

Garden club members bought raffle tickets for the 10 containers. Lucky winners took home the container and the arrangement.

Mary also introduced the audience to new plants and discussed their use. After the luncheon quite a few members went to the nursery and bought plants from Mary.

Shirley Fiorvanti (left) was one of the lucky winners of a container and arrangement. In this picture, Shirley and Mary consider if this arrangement is the best for this container.
Mary studies the effect of this rubrum spike in the very large pot Sue Hughson won in the garden club raffle.
The program and food were most excellent. The garden club enjoyed the day.
